My Matcha time!
As a big tea lover I always look for new teas. I get excited every time a new tea store pops in my area and surely I am one of the first customers! Recently, I discovered matcha. I know that matcha had been growing in popularity for a long time and I even tried it once or twice in a latte form but I never made my own matcha tea. So recently, I decided that it is time, and went to my local health store to purchase the magic powder. Before I did it, I did some research and learned that although you can prepare it in a simple and easy way using your travel coffee mug, I was more intrigued by the traditional way of preparing this healthy and delicious drink. So of course I left the store not only with a bag of matcha powder but also with a chasen which is the bamboo whisk that Japanese people use to prepare their matcha. I am so happy I got the chasen because now my tea time has risen to a whole new level. It became my little meditation time and I truly love the whole process. If you think you would love to try it for yourself I am more than happy to share with you how I do it.
You will need:
1 bowl with wide opening
1 tsp matcha powder
1/2 cup hot water ( about 80C )
sifter ( optional )
This is how you do it:
Boil the water and let sit to cool down to about 80C. Add matcha powder to your bowl ( if you like you can sift it). Pour water and stir gently to make sure the matcha powder is not clumped. Using the chasen, quickly whisk the liquid in N or W motion until fine foam appears on the surface. Enjoy!
