Headbands organizer DIY
While redoing Maria’s bedroom I am looking for different ways to make the room clutter free and functional. I am a believer that everything should have it’s own place to make cleaning easier and provide easy access to all we need. Boxes, containers, baskets are good ideas and even better if you can label them. Maria has long hair and she prefers to wear it as she says “loosey goosey” and to keep the hair from falling in her eyes, especially at school, she gathered a very impressive collection of headbands, which many of them she made by herself. We used to keep them in a small container, but quickly all the hair accessories started to overflow, so we got a nice basket. And when finally the basket wasn’t big enough, we faced a new problem: tangled and damaged headbands. The idea how to fix it came to me while browsing at the jewellery store. They had a very simple display for bracelets and watches. I thought if I only can get it in a bigger size it would work perfectly as a headband organizer and this is what we made…..
You will need:
paper towel rolls
hot glue gun
This is how you do it:
Wrap the fabric around the paper towel roll to determine how much you need. Let the fabric ends to overlap by 3cm.
Fold one end inside to hide the cut and spread hot glue on it
press and let the glue cool down
cut excess fabric on the sides leaving just enough to cover the flat parts of the roll
tuck the fabric into the tube and secure it with the hot glue
tunnel the ribbon thru the center of the wrapped paper towel
if you need more levels of the organizer just repeat the steps above
the side ribbons are great for storing clips and barrettes
Since I didn’t have any suitable fabric at home I just used a pillow case. The headbands are so colourful so I thought that simple fabric in a neutral colour will work very well:) I will probably add another level……
